School House Rock is scheduled to take place in the auditorium today and Friday at 7:30. Students of all levels have spent the past three weeks preparing for the show. This included picking the songs, making banners, and practicing in class. They also had after school practices and dress rehearsals this week prior to the show.
Songs featured include The Fray’s “How to Save a Life” and Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA.” All but two of the songs were agreed upon by the students themselves.
“The songs are a collection of different styles of music. I chose two that I thought were needed to round out the program,” Vocal Music Director Daniel Compher said.
Senior Kendal Bungert has performed in School House Rock all four years here at Chamberlain.
“I have my first solo this year so I’m kind of nervous. But I’m still excited. Its going to be a good show,” she said.
Skits have been choreographed to add diversity to the show. There will also be a live band performing. The band is made up of five seniors, one of them Harry Ong.
“I’ve played in the show since my sophomore year. The rest of the band graduated, but I recommended the other guys for the show to Mr. Compher this year,” he said
Some students were given the chance to preview School House Rock today during an assembly second period.
“That’s my favorite part. It’s cool playing in front of everyone at the assembly,” Ong said.
The show is expected to be an hour and a half long. Students who made the honor roll are invited to come for free and will be admitted if they bring along their report card and student ID. If not, tickets will be $6 at the door.
